An important governing principle of the firm is to take an active role in each of its portfolio companies. This role could take the form of anything from a board seat to a full time position on the management team for a period of time. Rolam Equities is usually the first investor in a venture.
The firm has a focus on businesses that support the commercial real estate industry, sustainable and eco-friendly products, and technology and business services, but has a flexible investment mandate and will consider ventures across a wide variety of industries. Rolam Equities invests in development rather than discovery and concentrates its investments in companies that are close to, or in the early stages of, revenue generation.
